About Us

Hello! I’m Elaine, the face behind Butterflies and Beetles. I started sewing bright and beautiful clothes for my own little girl when I couldn’t quite find what I wanted on the high street. After so many lovely comments from friends and family about my makes, I decided to dip my toe into sewing to sell, and towards the end of 2022 Butterflies and Beetles was created!

It was very important to me that the clothes I sell are comfortable for little ones to wear, so everything is made out of soft and stretchy cotton elastane fabric, which is oeko-tex certified (no nasty chemicals!).

I’ve never ran a business before, and I’m learning how to navigate marketing, legalities, branding, finances, stock, packaging, logistics, and having to do the actual sewing bit single handed - with help from Mr. Butterflies and Beetles in setting up this website and from mini Butterflies and Beetles being my number one model! I’m starting to feel like I’m getting there, but because I love a challenge I’ve decided to learn how to draw digital designs too and some of the fabric you can choose on the website has been drawn by me - the local North East designs are fully exclusive and you won’t find them anywhere else!

There’s no better feeling than seeing kids be kids, in comfy, bright clothing that I’ve made and I am incredibly grateful for the photos that I get sent from customers of my makes in action.
